Growth Coordinator Job Description

Haymaker Farmers' Market (HFM) is seeking a Growth Coordinator to be the driving force behind our continued growth and community impact. This role is responsible for securing the financial resources that fuel our mission, managing and growing our funding base through grants, donors, and community initiatives.

The Growth Coordinator will be a key leader in our organization, responsible for building and maintaining the relationships that allow HFM to thrive. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for local food systems, community building, and a proven ability to turn fundraising efforts into tangible results. Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Grant Management (55%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure new and recurring funding from grants, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.

  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals to fully fund existing programs, including food access, educational initiatives like Power of Produce, and events like Music and Art at the Market.

  • Maintain all fundraising records, including grant and program bookkeeping, communications with funders and partners, and program data for reporting and evaluation.

  • Prepare and submit accurate reports to funding partners and the HFM Board of Directors (BOD).

  • Manage and grow relationships with existing and potential funders.

Community Engagement and Program Oversight (40%)

  • Serve as a primary public representative for HFM, building and nurturing relationships with community partners, businesses, and stakeholders in Northeast Ohio.

  • Develop and execute fundraising and outreach events, such as the Community Potluck, Haymaker Harvest Dinner, and End of Season Vendor Appreciation.

  • Collaborate closely with the Market Manager to ensure the successful execution of all HFM programs and events.

  • Attend at least one Market Day per month to network with the community and solicit donations.

  • Propose new, creative fundraising initiatives to the HFM leadership team.

Organizational Support (5%)

  • Maintain a deep understanding of HFM's history, mission, and strategic goals to effectively advocate for the market.

  • Work closely with the HFM BOD and its committees: Fundraising, Education, and Events (FEE) and Marketing, Advertising, Planning and Strategy (MAPS), to support their work and align with the market's vision. 

  • Provide timely written reports to the Executive Committee and attend BOD and committee meetings as requested.

  • Cross-train with the Market Manager on the Market Day responsibilities and be available to cover the Saturday Market shift at short notice.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience in grant writing and management.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and networking abilities.

  • Experience with budgeting and financial oversight.

  • Flexibility and a collaborative mindset to adapt to organizational needs and goals.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of and passion for local food, agriculture, and farmers’ markets.

  • Familiarity with the Kent community and Northeast Ohio.

  • Experience with non-profit organizations and their operational structures.

  • Proficiency in bookkeeping software, such as QuickBooks.

  • Public speaking experience.

Hours: Up to 16 per week               Rate: $25/HR   Job Type: Contract
